One of my most frequently asked questions is where to stay when visiting London, especially from readers who are thinking about visiting for the first time. Today’s post will cover where I recommend staying and why I think it’s so great!
While I’ve been able to recommend locations (central is always best for a first-timer), I’ve never had any good hotel suggestions! I’ve only stayed at one hotel in London before moving here, and I wouldn’t recommend it. When St. James’s Hotel & Club approached me about a staycation, I knew this was the perfect opportunity to scout out a hotel for you guys! Everything about our stay at St. James’s was lovely, and I would suggest it to anyone coming to London.
St. James’s Hotel & Club is a 5-star luxury boutique hotel located right in the heart of Mayfair. It used to be a members only club (it’s been around since the 1800’s!), but it’s now open to the public for anyone to book. With only 60 rooms, you’re able to get a more intimate experience than you would with a larger hotel. We felt incredibly well taken care of by the staff and concierge, and they truly went above and beyond to ensure we had a pleasant stay.
Tucked away on a quiet cul-de-sac just minutes from Green Park station, St James’s Hotel & Club puts you a stone’s throw away from some of London’s top attractions. You’re walking distance to Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Street, and so much more. London is such a big city, and it can feel a bit overwhelming on your first visit. St. James’s location is the perfect spot not only for convenience, but as a relaxing space to come back to after a long day.
THE ROOM & AMENITIES
We stayed in a Junior One Bedroom Suite, and it was the perfect oasis to unwind and de-stress from busy city life. The suite boasted a separate living room equipped with a sofa, two chairs, and a large television set. The bedroom was kitted out with a super comfy king size bed, a desk area, and another TV. The en-suite bathroom had a large bathtub, separate shower, and was fully stocked with luxury bath products from Penhaligon’s (the bath oil smelled absolutely divine) and fluffy bathrobes. It’s the perfect home away from home!
THE AFTERNOON TEA
You can’t visit London without enjoying an afternoon tea! While there is certainly no shortage of great options to choose from in London, I really enjoyed my tea at Seven Park Place. Seven Park Place is a Michelin Star restaurant located in St. James’s Hotel & Club. We enjoyed a wonderful selection of sandwiches, scones (the savory cheddar cheese scone was fabulous!), and sweet treats all while sipping champagne and peppermint tea. It certainly made for a lovely afternoon!
Planning a trip to London can feel a bit overwhelming, especially if it’s your first visit! After my stay I can easily say that St. James’s Hotel & Club would make for a fabulous first trip to London. From the lovely staff, convenient location to popular tourist attractions, and cozy rooms you’re sure to have a wonderful time. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you any other questions while booking your next trip to London!
*** A special thank you to St. James’s Hotel & Club for hosting us for the night! While this was a gifted experience, I was not required to write this post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own. ***
