I’m honestly still having a hard time believing that today marks ONE YEAR of living in London. Moving here has changed my life in so many different ways, and I couldn’t be more grateful for this adventure. In honor of one year I’m sharing a few random things about my time here, and also giving a little update on future plans!

LONDON ANNIVERSARY
A YEAR IN: LONDON PHRASES
One of my favorite parts about living here has been learning all of the ways in which American English differs from English here. There are so many words or phrases that have completely different meanings! While our languages are largely the same, you really start to notice the little differences after spending time here. I thought it would be fun to share a few of my favorites (but there are SO many more!):
- Bin = Trash
- Fit = Good looking, hot
- Keen = Very interested
- Queue = Line
- Holiday = Vacation
- Jumper = Sweater
- Lift = Elevator
- Mac = Raincoat
- Trolley = Shopping cart
- Cheers = Thank you
A YEAR IN: MY STYLE
My style is one of the things that’s changed the most since moving to London. My go-to stores like Nordstrom and Madewell aren’t very accessible here, so I’ve had to just accept the fact that I can’t shop there anymore. I’ve become really fond of & Other Stories, Zara (I swear it’s SO much better in Europe), Mango, and the department store Harvey Nichols. I’ve noticed that by cutting out some of the “mid-priced” stores such as J.Crew, my closet has been able to grow in a more meaningful way. I’m much more drawn to investment staples like denim and cashmere, and then I shop the high street for my trendy seasonal purchases. It’s cut out a lot of unnecessary spending! I’ve also become somewhat of a sneaker junkie – on a daily basis I walk anywhere from 3-6 miles, which is significantly more than I walked in NYC. I wear sneakers nearly everyday, and have developed quite the collection from Nike, Acne, Golden Goose, etc!
A YEAR IN: TRAVELS
Since moving to London, I’ve travelled to Mykonos, Malta, Tulum, the South of France, Paris, Amsterdam, Morocco, the Cotswolds, and Brugge. With TONS more travel planned for the year ahead, I’m hoping to tick at least 4-5 more countries off my bucket list! Traveling is one of the highlights of living in London, and I plan to take full advantage of it while I’m over here.
A YEAR IN: FRIENDSHIPS
To say I’m grateful for the friendships I’ve made here would be an understatement. I don’t know what I would do without the girls that London has brought into my life! Whitney and I instantly clicked from the minute we met, and even though she’s not currently living in London, we manage to talk nearly every single day (shoutout to WhatsApp voice memos for being the real MVP!). Haley is another lovely lady I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know, and it’s of course been wonderful being able to live closer to Victoria. I also met Anna through Instagram, and she and I just went on our first trip together to Greece and had the best time. It can be hard moving to another country and not knowing anyone, but these girls have all helped make London feel like home.
THE FUTURE
I wish I had a more exciting update for you, but all I can say for certain is that I’ll be living in London for another year (May 2020). Beyond that I’m not sure what the future holds, but I’ve got a lot of fun things happening behind the scenes that I will share when the time is right. I do think that now is a good time to say that I’ve been getting back into work! Blogging full time this past year has been amazing, and it was much needed to get the move sorted and get settled into a new life. Now that I’m fully adjusted to London, I’m interested in making some moves back into the corporate world. I’m currently doing some freelance work for a boutique PR firm based in Carnaby, and I would love to work in social media / content creation for a brand. I’m still in the early stages of the job hunt, but I’m looking forward to this new chapter!
That sums up my mini London anniversary year in review – what a truly amazing year it’s been. Cheers to another 365 days in my favorite city in the world!

Congrats on one year in London!! What a cool adventure you’re on. I was just in Spain and I totally agree that Zara et all are much better in Europe — and cheaper too! I make most of my luxury bag purchases on European trips now because the selection tends to be better and the prices tend to be better than in the US. Your photos are making me want to be back in London right this moment.
Well now I’m dying to go to London soon!! These are such fun photos!
I love that you’re style has evolved since you’ve been there! And I’m really inspired by how it’s evolved. I’m working on cutting out middle-range shops too and want to focus more on investment pieces!
