One of my favorite areas of the French Riviera was easily the Place Masséna in Nice, which is the town square. It’s one of the most photogenic locations I’ve ever seen!
Place Masséna Nice
As I mentioned in my French Riviera travel guide, we decided to make Nice our home base. We didn’t spend too much time there, but it was the most cost effective place to stay. On the morning before our train to Provence, we had an hour or two to walk around and really explore Nice for the first time. We went down to the water and walked along the Promenade des Anglais, which is arguably the most famous beach in France. Just a two-minute walk from there is the Place Masséna. I had seen it before on Instagram, but nothing can compare to the real deal!
I loved everything about this beautiful town square, from the pastel colors to the checkerboard tiling (major home decor inspo!). Since we had a noon train, we were up and walking around on the earlier side, especially for a Sunday morning. We arrived around 9:30am and there was hardly anyone there! It does tend to get really crowded with tourists by mid-day, so if you’re going for photos I highly recommend arriving in the early morning.
If you find yourself in Nice, Place Masséna is not to be missed!
