Exploring Squerryes Vineyard

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to venture outside of London to Kent, where I visited the beautiful Squerryes Vineyard.

Located a little over an hour outside of the city, Squerryes Vineyard is a quaint little winery in the countryside of Kent. It sits on over 2,500 acres of land, and is a family-run business now in it’s 8th generation (over 300 years!). They specialize in sparkling wines, and have both a brut and rosé variety. I was able to try both and I can say that they are fantastic – but my favorite was of course the rosé. What’s so great about this mom and pop winery is that you can’t buy these bottles anywhere else. They are sold locally in a few shops around Kent, but they mainly sell directly from their own storefront. This makes these bottles incredibly special (you can’t event purchase them in London!), so be sure to stock up on a few for yourself or as gifts.

While I was there I was also able to try out their new summer tapas menu. For the summer months only, they have opened up a beautiful outdoor patio area that looks directly out to the vineyards. There’s tons of lounge chairs, tables, and umbrellas so visitors can relax, sip some wine, and enjoy the beautiful weather. It gave me some serious Wölffer Estate vibes, just on a smaller scale. The lobster arancini balls (pictured above) we’re hands down my favorite, but the entire menu was delicious. Be sure to get dessert too – I had the shortcake with strawberry sorbet, topped with foam made from the wine! It was seriously so cool.

I highly recommend a visit to Squerryes if you’ll be in London for more than a few days, or if you’ve been to London before and are interested in exploring outside of the city. It’s definitely worth the trip for a relaxing afternoon!
