Butterscotch London Afternoon Tea

I have to admit, I’ve never been crazy about tea. I would drink it on cold winter nights, but not regularly. However, I think it’s safe to say that London is officially starting to rub off on me – I was so excited to head to afternoon tea at Butterscotch London!

I had seen Butterscotch before on Instagram, and thought that it looked like the sweetest place to have an afternoon cuppa! The decor is simply stunning – huge white floral appliqués cover the walls, the most beautiful chandeliers hang from the ceiling, and the copper accents make for the perfect touch. Even the chairs are adorable, with their little bow back design. But don’t just come for the Instagrammable decor – the food was amazing too!

Afternoon tea includes your choice of tea of course, along with a variety of sandwiches, scones, madeleines, brownies, and cupcakes (they also offer champagne!). Accompanied by my friend Danii, we happily started tasting all of the treats and sandwiches. They key to afternoon tea is to pace yourself – you could easily fill up on the sandwiches alone, but you definitely don’t want to miss the sweets! My favorite item I ate was hands down the scone. It was buttery and delicious, and the jam and clotted cream paired perfectly. Danii told me about a funny debate they have here in England – which do you put on the scone first, the cream or the jam? In my opinion, you obviously spread the cream first and then put the jam on top, but apparently this is quite the heated discussion!

I highly recommend putting a Butterscotch London afternoon tea on your list next time you’re in London! It’s the perfect time for tea with girlfriends.
