TGIF! I’m in Denver visiting one of my best friends from high school this weekend, but today on the blog I’m sharing my last look from NYFW (be sure to follow me on Instagram and Snapchat for live updates while I’m in Colorado!). Dare I say this look might be my favorite of fashion week – read on to hear about where I wore it!
I only went to one show last Monday, but it was the best one I went to all week, and potentially the best of my career. When I first received my invite to Mara Hoffman I was beyond honored, she’s a designer that I’ve always enjoyed wearing – seeing her collection in person was truly a dream come true! However, her show ended up being about much more than just clothes. The show opened with an incredibly moving speech by the national co-chairs of the Women’s March. They spoke about equality and women’s rights, and were met with a standing ovation before the models even started to walk the runway! I don’t like to get political on the blog, but I think women’s rights are something we can all support, and I had goosebumps listening to them speak. As for the clothes, monochromatic looks were the big takeaway – I particularly loved the golden rod yellow jacket and pants set (pictured below). The models were a mix of runway models and dancers, all of mixed races, ages, and gender identities. They leapt and danced and twirled down the runway, which was both fun and powerful at the same time. It was a show I’ll never forgot, and I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to be there. If you follow me on Snapchat, you also saw that I had a major fangirl moment meeting Jenna Lyons after the show. It was the perfect way to close another fun NYFW season. Until September!!
I hope you guys enjoyed my coverage of Fashion Week this season, be sure to check out my other NYFW posts here and here. I would love any and all feedback you have so I can improve for the SS18 shows! Do you want more show recaps/ trends, runway images, or are you like “I don’t care about fashion week at all”?? I’m all ears! I even created a short (totally anonymous!) 2 question survey, if you could take 10 seconds to fill it out that would be so appreciated!
